This resource has been developed for teenage students to brainstorm and reflect on some risky behaviours and consider the negative and positives of the situation. This resource includes blank templates at the end of the resource for students to complete their own brainstorming maps.

This behavior workbook is specifically designed for teenagers and adolescents and has been developed utilizing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy principles. This workbook primarily focuses on emotions, behaviours, anger management and self-care.
Students with anger management difficulties often represent a significant number of referrals for school counselors. They are often referred because they are internalising their anger (depressed, socially withdrawn) or the majority are externalising their anger by demonstrating behavioural concerns. Whether students internalise or externalise anger, supporting them to learn healthy ways to express and cope with their strong emotions.
This workbook provides practical strategies to help them recognise the signs of anger and develop better ways to cope and express their anger. This is a fun, creative and engaging intervention for students who have difficulty with persistent lying. This intervention helps students project their internal beliefs and fears about themselves onto the monster that they create and imagine and gain acceptance from you.
Although this isn’t a directive/skills-based intervention, this mini-lesson has been successful at supporting students who have a history of lying. Students are encouraged to create their own monster and explore key aspects of their monster. This intervention includes various activities, reflective questions and worksheets.
Within this intervention the monster is also encouraged to play two truths and a lie so that they play intentional truth telling and lying. Additional creative stories will be journaled to support students to understand the distinction between imagination and reality. This intervention takes the focus off the child “lying” and allow them to explore it in a creative way that isn’t directed at them.
This therapeutic intervention requires the therapist to be very curious and unconditionally accepting of the monster that the student creates and imagines.
Remember the vital role of empathy and at the end of the intervention thank the student for sharing what they would look like as a monster to support integration.

This framework is based on trauma-informed principles and knowledge. This framework is intentionally designed to teach and to shape the individual’s behaviour within consistent limits using non-blaming, non-shaming and empowering communication.

Coping strategies and skills are behavioural reactions that an individual utilizes to cope, deal and adapt with difficult situations. Coping strategies come in many forms – some might be helpful, and some are unhelpful.

This is a fun, engaging, creative and non-threatening intervention which is great for students to explore self-esteem. In particular, self-confidence, identify, feeling of belonging and feeling of competence.
What to do?
1.Encourage students to explore each of the 24 realistic scenarios on each page and reflect on how that scenario would make them feel. This also encourages self-compassion and consideration of feelings and actions as they resonate with each scenario.
2.The next step is for the students to explore the “Self-Esteem Ingredients” list and tick what self-esteem strategy they could employ and use for that particular scenario. This helps students to reflect, explore and gain insight into their own feelings and behaviours.
3.Students then put those ingredients into the “blender” which is located on each page to cement the lesson. There are 20 visuals for already developed self-esteem and confidence strategies which students can utilize. There are an addition 12 blank visual cards for students to explore some of their own individual and unique self-esteem strategies that work for them.
4.Lastly, students can create a name for that particular self-care smoothie. This heightens the learning outcomes and students become more likely to explore and employ these self-care strategies within their everyday life.

Each page includes a mini-informative narrative about a peer pressure situation. On each page there are three comprehension and reflective questions to help support the student to reflect on the peer pressure situation, explore decision making, consequences and gain insight into the situation.

There are a total of 30 Growth and Fixed Mindset Scenario Cards which all include a variety of relatable and realistic scenarios for students to discuss and reflect upon. These scenarios explore a number of realistic situations in which the student is encouraged to explore whether the situation illustrates a growth or fixed mindset.
There are 15 scenarios which illustrate a fixed mindset and 15 scenarios which illustrate a growth mindset.
This is a great exercise to also explore and reinforce the importance of a growth mindset.
The student may require some reflective questioning should they need prompting. Each scenario supports understanding, discussion and reflection.

Behaviour Support: Inappropriate V’s Appropriate Things To Say
The following activity was developed to support a child’s ability to reflect upon comments that they make and the impact of these.
The activity includes
• 1 x illustration of child with open and happy mouth (symbolizing things a child can say)
• 1 x illustration of a shocked child with mouth closed (symbolizing things a child shouldn’t say)
• Question/Statement cards that children can cut out which contains a comment that either can be pasted on the mouth open (something nice/good/okay/acceptable to say) or pasted on the mouth closed (something you shouldn’t say as its mean/not nice)
This activity also includes some spare cards for either the teacher, students (group or individual) to write on as examples of things they feel are appropriate/inappropriate to support the development of insight and judgment.
This activity works really well for all children particularly children with special needs, autism, ADHD and or intellectual disability and learning difficulties.
